Food Security Summit Trends
The recent food security summit shared thoughts on “permaculture” and “native agriculture.” What better way to feed people than using public lands such as schools, rights of way, trails, and parks? The concept of Native Agriculture looks to build sustainable food systems through community parks; the ultimate goal being to improve health, strengthen food security, and increase control over Native agriculture. Community gardens are also gaining attention. These gardens can bring different generations together. Community gardens can be used as a tool for getting children involved in gardening. This resource can change the way youth perceive food and may alter the way they eat. These trends hold a wealth of potential to impact future generations.
